Which Kindle, and why

Three months. Three Kindles. One overnight flight where the Scribe quietly earned its place. The Paperwhite remains the best buy for most readers — bigger screen, warm-light tuning, no premium you’ll never use.

What the Scribe is for

It’s a notebook substitute, not a notebook replacement. Latency is fine, the eraser works as expected, and the export-to-email flow is the one that ended up sticking. If you’re a heavy long-form annotator, the Scribe earns its keep. If you’re not, the Paperwhite is the buy.

Where the Colorsoft falls down

The colour is muted, the refresh is slower than the Paperwhite, and the warm light tuning is regressed. Wait a generation or two.
